About our Club

The Woodturners of Southwest Missouri (Not for Profit 501 c3) are a group of individuals that make up a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners.

The Purpose of our club:
“To publicly promote woodturning, to strengthen the woodturning community and to assist and encourage individuals to a higher standard of excellence in woodturning.”

We meet once monthly usually the 4th Saturday but there are exceptions throughout the year.  So, always check the main page or “Meeting Info” for the next months date and program information.  We meet from 10:00am to approximately 12:15pm. There is a chance to socialize before the meeting between 9 – 10am with coffee and snacks and then open the meeting promptly at 10:00am. Typically, we have the following format:

Business Meeting
Hold show and tell with our members turnings
Demonstration or Special Guest
We hold a bi-monthly turning challenge

We offer a club library consisting of many DVD’s and Books that aid in training/teaching.
A club Co-op that allows the members to purchase various items at a club discount.
Hands on tips, tricks and teaching at various times throughout the year.
Several of our experienced turners act as mentors which will help you learn quickly.
“Coffee Shops” throughout the year at various members shops for fellowship and teaching.
