WOODTURNERS OF SOUTHWEST MISSOURI November 2005 November MEETING This month's meeting will be Saturday, Nov. 26th, 9:00 a.m. at Pro-Image Graphics, 1284 Ashley Dr., Nixa, MO The program this month will be presented by our President, Mike Ilkiw. Mike will be demonstrating how to turn Christmas Ornaments. We will also be electing a complete slate of officers for the 2006 year. Every member should have input into this important part of our program. The new officers will be responsible for directing our club's activities and growth for the coming year. As every month, we will have a "Show & Tell" time so bring one of your projects to show to the members. CHRISTMAS SOCIAL Mike Ilkiw and his wife have invited the club member and their spouses to their home for a Christmas Social. The date is Saturday afternoon, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on December 10th, 2005. We will be exchanging turned Christmas ornaments so bring your favorite turned ornament. Mike and his wife will be providing the refreshments for the get-together, however, if you want something to drink besides Mike's "mystery cider" you may want to bring it. You can contact Mike for directions to his house in Springfield, MO at 417-889-3812 OCTOBER WORKSHOP Following the October meeting, we had a four-hour beginners turning workshop. There were seven enthusiastic turners who enrolled in the workshop. These new turners will be receiving this letter to invite them to our upcoming meeting. A big thanks goes to Andy Hilton and the other club members who helped make this workshop successfull. SPRING SHOW Just a reminder of the Spring Home & Garden Show (March 10 & 11, 2006). The club is asking each member to turn at least 5 Dibbles (link to a dibble soon) or some other garden / home related item to be sold as a fundraiser at this show.
