July 22 Meeting

Meeting time 9:00 A.M.

Starting Location/ Taliaferro SAAB

525 N. Prince Lane

Springfield, MO

President Mike Ilkiw has accepted an invitation to conduct our next regular business meeting and demo at Jeff Farris’s business location.  Mr. Farris is the distributor for TORMEK BRAND SHARPENING EQUIPMENT AND AS SUCH HAS INVITED US TO HIS BUSINESS LOCATION BOTH TO CONDUCT OUR CLUB BUSINESS AND BE PRESENTED WITH A DEMONSTRATION OF HIS PRODUCT LINE.

We will begin the day by meeting at John Taliaferro’s shop at 525 North Prince Lane, in Springfield at   9:00 A.M..  Take Chestnut Expressway to Prince Lane and turn north to his shop. The reason for meeting at John Taliaferro’s shop is to carpool, for those who do not like to travel outside of Springfield and be able to leave our vehicles in a secured location.

The directions to the business location where we are going to is as follows.  Take Hwy 13 north out of Springfield to Hwy CC (bottom of Nobel Hill) turn right on CC, and then 2.3 miles to the driveway.  Correct address is 1110. W. State Hwy CC. Bring a piece of wood and your favorite dull tool or even your comfortable and sharp tool and see if there is a better way to sharpen.  You be the judge.

By the way, I think the shop is air conditioned!!!

All normal business will be conducted including the final scheduling for the Ozark Empire Fair demonstrators list. Remember you must be a member of AAW to demo on the lathes (insurance purpose!!), but any club member is welcome to man the display. Bring a few pieces of your finished works to display at the booth while you are at the fair. Tickets for parking and admission to the fair should be available at this meeting.

Dan McKinzie is making preparation for a big sale after Labor Day to dispose of some of his vast collection of wood products obtained at a recent sale of a stair builders business.  First chance will be to the members of the woodworkers and wood turners clubs.   All sorts of materials will be available in all sizes and shapes according to reports.  Dan will tell us when it is sorted, listed and ready.  Until then I don’t have any further information.

Please make an effort to attend and try to bring a friend.

We are the best and only representatives we have.

Thanks,

 Jim Johnston
