Hand's on Workshops

In an effort to extend our membership's skills the Woodturners of Southwest Missouri  (WSWMO) club will be holding a series of workshops for our membership, and others as desired.  These workshops are designed to get people actually in there and working for themselves. Different from our monthly meetings where we watch, listen and learn from a demonstrator, Workshop attendees will be handling the tools, learning and creating the projects themselves.  We will have instructors or leaders there to guide you. Ask them questions, share your own experiences and take advantage of this great resource.  If you have a suggestion for a future workshop or would like to volunteer your time for an upcoming workshop, please feel free to contact Mike or the webmaster

To sign up for a workshop, please contact a club officer/committee member.  You do need to sign up for these.  We need to be sure to have enough equipment and instructors available for the attendance.

Upcoming Workshops

May 19th, 2009 9:30 - 12:30pm

Take a look at the flyer for more information.  For those of you that signed up at the ArtFest on Walnut Street , this is the workshop.  This workshop is aimed at the beginning woodturner that may have never even put a piece of wood on the lathe before.  If you want to learn how it is done, this workshop is for you.

Fall 2007

Introduction to Woodturning      We'll be hosting this workshop to help introduce both older and younger people to our wonderful craft and art.  It's a great way to educate the public and let our club members show off their talents with a whole new crowd.  We will start with the very basics of the lathe, tools, and safety.  Quickly, we'll go right into having each team practice some basic skills and then start making projects.  The shavings will be flying; the smiles will be filling the place!!!   Come help put on this event.  We'll have a great time.

We're limiting this workshop to 5 attendees. This will allow us to give each student personal attention and hands-on help. Each turning station will includ a lathe, tools, materials and an experienced club member helping out.  Pricing is $20 per person.

Stay tuned for more information about this event as we get them in here.  Contact a club officer for more information or to signup today.
